Meet "The Twins"

I would like to introduce you to what I call "The Twins". These locker hooked rugs were made for a dear friend of my mothers. She asked me if I would make here a pair of rugs and they had to be the same. When you are doing locker hooking it can be a challenge. Fabric does stretch. So placement of color can be a challenge. She asked me to make it random. Similar to one of my other rugs. So this is what she got.

This one is a close up of the colors.
My mom's friend picked the colors and I did the rest. I really love how they turned out. She said random and this is for sure random. You won't see any dirt on these. I have to tell you a funny thing though. After I make a rug it isn't complete without putting it on the floor and stepping on it. So after every rug I make I have to put my tootsies on them all. And of course my kids laugh at me when I do this cause it is a big deal to me and I make it that way. I sure have enjoyed making these rugs. Little splashes of color.

Midnight Snack Complete!!!!

Well the midnight snack is complete now. Binding is on and it is quilted. Yippee!! We got to sleep under it for the first night. And let me tell you it was good. I didn't get sucked into the duvet. I was sure glad to get rid of that. That was the best part. Funny thing is it didn't cause me to have that midnight snack that everyone was warning me about. Didn't even need that bottle of tums. :)

This thing is huge!! 120X120. We wanted it large so it would cover the entire California king size bed and the pillows. It worked great. Totally love it. After I had it quilted my mom decided that we needed matching pillow cases. So she made us matching pillow cases. What fun is that. Mom's are the best aren't they? I sure love her and It was a great idea. So here they are. One matching set in flannel like the backer. One set with different patterns for each of us. Like his and hers.
This picture shows a bit of the backer. Yes, That is the midnight snack. Flannel for extra softness.

And last but not least the final on the bed view.

Dalmatian!

Dalmatians blast from my past. Remembered this when I was at my mother-in-laws house the other day. decided to get a picture of it to post. This was done by me in 1996. It is counted cross stitch. I haven't done any counted cross stitch in a while. But this one is still one of my favorites. My mother in-law has had many dalmatians in the past and she just loves them. And who couldn't resist the white and black spots. Very active and fun loving dogs for sure. Just thought I would post this old creation from my past.

Ketchup, Mustard with a splash of Mayo!!

Here you have a ketchup, mustard and a splash of mayo rug. That is what my husband calls it. Pretty good name for it if you ask me. Kind of looks like that for sure. Had a request from my mother in law for a red and yellow rug. This is what I came up with. She likes random stuff so this is as random as it gets. Wasn't to sure how the colors would turn out. But I am very happy with the way it looks. It should look very nice in her laundry room. Should add quite a splash of color for sure.

"Midnight Snack"

This is my latest adventure. This is my quilt top. I call it "midnight snack". Cause as you can see it is filled with lots of yummy goodness.  It is off to the quilter to get quilted right now. I can't wait for it to be finished. I so want to put it on my bed. Every time I see it it just makes me want to smile. The comments I have gotten on it crack me up. I will share a better picture once it is complete.  I haven't done very many quilts yet. But I enjoy doing them once in a while. I have learned so much since i first started. This quilt is the largest I have done. Can't wait to sleep under this yummy goodness. Hoping it doesn't make we want to eat this all the time though.

Finished!

Finally finished my new locker hooking rug. So very pleased with how it turned out. Love the color combination. It took a lot longer than I had anticipated. But, So far it is a hit. I used a couple of different materials on this one. I used Yarn and material. Most people use material. But, saw this yarn and it looked like it would work and I decided to try it. It was great. Yarn was so nice to use in this application cause you could just keep hooking didn't have to stop and add fabric all the time. Pretty tickled with the final outcome.

This next picture is a close up of the material and the yarn combination.

It is hard to see but there is a bit of a sparkle to the piece. I think that is what I liked the most. Just another piece to add to my collection of crafts. I am very pleased to put my name on it and call it mine.

Under Construction!!

It always takes time for that one of kind masterpiece. Sometimes you just need that one inspiration to get the creative juices flowing. Sometimes you just choose not to create anything. Here is my latest creation. Of course it is still under construction as you can see. The inspiration for this one came when I walked by the front door and the rug looked like it needed an update. The funny thing about this one is that I have just been designing as I go. Pretty unusual for me. I always have a plan when I start a project with a clear picture in my head. But, Not this one. Maybe it will be better this time. Soon it will be done and you can see the finished project.

Cookie Monster!! Me want cookie!!

Cookie!!!!!

Hmm!! I am sure you are wondering why Jelly Beans with cookie monster. Well let me tell you the story. Well my name is Sandra Jean. When I was a little girl my uncle used to call me Sandra Jean Jelly Bean. He used to call himself the cookie monster. So growing up we used to fight for who was the cookie monster and of course I always wanted to be the cookie monster. But, continually I was the jelly bean. :( So for Christmas 2013, I made this cookie jar for my uncle for Christmas. And as you can see after hearing the story it is very appropriate to have jelly beans with the Cookie Monster.
